Founded in 2014 on Florida’s Space Coast, Above Group is an engineering firm that knows what it means to reach for the stars and go above and beyond. Above Group is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) that specializes in highly technical building system knowledge and design expertise. Our services include mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), fire protection, structural engineering, and technology design services. We provide innovative engineering solutions for multiple industries throughout the United States.

Our business mission is to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to those we reach. Our mission is evident in all we do by setting our minds on things above. We are a Business as a Ministry (BaaM), and strive to be an excellent business in order to have a sustainable Kingdom impact. We exist to support ministries and missions in a way that honors God and spreads the good news of Jesus Christ. Nicholas Kugler

President, CEO, Principal Engineer

Above Group’s President, Nicholas Kugler is a U.S. Army Veteran and licensed Mechanical Engineer with nearly 20 years of engineering experience. He carries himself with a vision to glorify Jesus Christ in all aspects of life to leave a lasting legacy that continues to glorify God. Skilled in the foundational Leadership and Management of HVAC, Plumbing, Process Piping, and Fire Protection Engineering and Design, Nick delivers equally strong cross-discipline knowledge of Architecture, Structural, Civil, and Electrical engineering.

Ben Jones

Vice President

Vice President, Ben Jones brings more than 20 years of industry experience to his functional role as Integrator and drives results, continuous improvement, and is passionate about customer service. Ben is a licensed electrical engineer with over a decade of experience working with larger companies managing facilities, and maintenance, and serving as an owner’s representative for large capital construction projects. In his spare time, Ben enjoys time with family, attending his children’s activities, being outdoors, hiking, and playing the drum set at his church.

John Raine

Director of Operations

Director of Operations, John Raine, has nearly 20 years of experience as a licensed electrical engineer with expertise in the healthcare and federal markets. He is instrumental in optimizing operational efficiency and strategic planning for Above Group. John’s technical expertise and project management experience inform his leadership in fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his family, coaching youth sports, volunteering with Boy Scouts of America, and outdoor activities.
