Construct Consolidated Boiler Spaces

The Loch Raven VA Medical Center has several boilers scattered throughout the campus that have been cited as deficient in recent surveys. Our team conducted a detailed site survey to develop a long-term concept of consolidating smaller satellite boilers into a single-story, centralized boiler plant. This approach improves campus infrastructure and operational efficiency while balancing short-term costs, such as rerouting distribution piping, with long-term savings in energy and staffing. The new 4,700-square-foot, single-story boiler plant will house a control room, break area, locker room, restrooms, a supervisor’s office, and a housekeeping closet.

In this project’s CPARS evaluation, the COR noted, “Above Group has been exceptional in the quality area of this project. They have worked with the VA Engineering Department, Healthcare Environment and Facilities Programs (HEFP), and multiple other stakeholders to ensure the VA receives the design that will work both in functionality and the area it is for. The contractor maintains great communication with the VA; we have regularly scheduled meetings, emails and calls should a grey area arise. Communications are responded to in a timely manner, as are requests. It has been a pleasure to work with Above Group on this project. Very detail orientated, great communication, and they care about the project working for the VA.” (Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 5)
